Were the recordings or transcripts from the council meetings at Annual 2022 ever posted? They're not on the council recordings page: the most recent one is from March 2022. Did they wind up somewhere else or are they still pending?  Thanks! Hope everyone who travelled had/is having a safe trip back! ...

I'd missed it too but there's a new version of the bylaws committee report with the proposed amendments incorporated. (Thanks to Kara Whatley for bringing it to my attention.) https://www.ala.org/aboutala/sites/ala.org.aboutala/files/content/ALA%20CD%2025%20Constitution%20and%20Bylaws%20Report_acti ...

Hello! I was ill-prepared for a fully virtual forum and missed a question about a comment I made in council today while I scrambled to get set up.  I was referring to the policy currently described in our policy manual which says that all ALA members are explicitly permitted access to the membership ...

Not exactly. That vote was to steer the type of recommendations TAG would bring to annual. No actual change about where policy sits has been made yet (which is fortunate because it would be irresponsible to leave such an important change to one three-vote-margin motion in a not-terribly-well-attended ...

Hello! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner: I touched base with the SRRT action council about this. Our understanding is that the hacking charges are baseless, and were really only added for the sake of tacking on additional charges to aid in prosecuting Assange for publishing documents and media ...

For the record, ALA does not in fact have a stance on whether or not to divest from Israel. Some members have pushed ALA to make a statement in favor of the free speech rights of people who do support the BDS movement, but a) that's not the same thing, and b) ALA ultimately did not issue the statement ...

The forward together resolutions working group is moving towards finalizing its recommendations and will have a second round of feedback sessions next week. The council presentation will be in the first of the two sessions this time. That meeting is Monday, June 7 at 3:00 PM central time. Registration ...

I missed the first invasion but the second person who joined after the meeting had already started, the one with the hoodie, was running a bright multicolored strobe light possibly (knowing the types of people who do this stuff) intended to trigger photosensitive illnesses. Judging from the reactions ...

Thank you so much for this Maggie!  At first glance I see $ 579,269.00 in costs that could presumably be eliminated or drastically reduced going forward if we shift to virtual meetings permanently, under three line items - Audio & Visual Equipment/Electrical/Room Setup, catering and council travel. ...

Further question on the final resolved: the Resolution on Protecting Privacy and Safety in Coronavirus-related Library Policy passed with a similar statement referring to the executive board to create guidance.  Would it be better if the resolution instructed a specific body in ALA (be it the EB , a ...

Hey, all.  I'm trying to spread my net as widely as I can to get feedback on this resolution. I'll start with a specific question but welcome all the feedback I can get.  It took me a bit of thinking to frame my confusion about what we need from that final resolved statement. That statement as it was ...

Wow, this is a great idea.  The pressure China is able to exert on foreign companies to infringe on the speech of people outside its borders is very troubling to me personally.  From what I saw Blizz did back down somewhat, this time at least (though i'm not sure if the streamers were reinstated?) but ...
