  • CHICAGO - Author and activist Anthony Graves will deliver the keynote address at the 19th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance and Sunrise Celebration during the American Library Association’s (ALA) Midwinter Meeting and Exhibits in Denver. The 2018 Celebration will be held from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on Monday, February 12 in the Colorado Convention Center.
  • CHICAGO Acclaimed environmentalist, activist and author Bill McKibben will be speaking at the American Library Association (ALA) 2017 Annual Meeting and Exhibits in Chicago from 1 - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24 in an event co-sponsored by ALAs Social Responsibilities (SRRT) and Sustainability (SustainRT) Round Tables, the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) and the American Indian Library Association (AILA). The title of Mr. McKibbens talk will be Imagining a World That Works In Time to Prevent a World that Doesnt.
  • ATLANTA The Amelia Bloomer Project, a product of the ALA Social Responsibilities Round Tables (SRRT) Feminist Taskforce, announced the 2017 Amelia Bloomer List at ALAs Midwinter Meeting and Exhibits in Atlanta, held Jan. 20- 24, 2017. The bibliography consists of well written and illustrated books with significant feminist content, intended for young readers from birth to 18 years old. This years list includes 69 titles published between July 1, 2015 and Dec. 31, 2016.
