The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Registration is open for the Social Responsibilities Round Table's Virtual Afternoon of Social Justice on July 28. Our focus is on voting and civic engagement. Our esteemed panelists will offer informed and fresh perspectives, inspire provocative conversations, and provide opportunities for education and mobilization on these timely issues.

    11am–1:00pm Central Time: Building Political Power, Civic Agency, and Voter Mobilization: Understanding How Criminal Legal System Involvement Impacts Voting and Spurs Social Change
