I also support fully deprecating the elements in the proposal and Kathy's rewording of the definition for on manifestation with. Re: Kathy's comments about the lack of "issued with" in the definition for on carrier unit with: I wonder if the currently broad definition is meant to accommodate unpublished ...

I support fully deprecating these elements. I understand Thumy's arguments in favor of keeping the digest elements. However, I believe the current scope of the RDA digest elements excludes things like law digests or periodical digests, which are more akin to compilations with information from multiple ...

I don't think there's a clearcut answer to this question, and the value a cataloger chooses will depend somewhat on the artist's intent and user expectations. In the case of artists' books, I would lean toward "three-dimensional form" as the content type for a book that is entirely blank and coding the ...

I'm in favor of this proposal, which is probably unsurprising considering my role as RBMS Liaison. I take to heart Kathy's concerns about the "slippery slope" of relationship elements. However, RDA already includes a number of condition options for early printed resources. For that reason, I believe ...

I feel conflicted about the deprecation of parallel elements. On the one hand, the examples in the discussion paper demonstrate that cataloging outcomes (at least in MARC) could remain essentially the same as our current status quo. Deprecating the elements would also have the effect of streamlining ...

I also support this proposal. There is a clear need and many uses cases for additional elements to describe notated movement. One note of caution: many of the "details of" elements in RDA are soft-deprecated, including details of format of notated music, on which the proposed new element details of format ...

The Examples Working Group adds or modifies examples to new and revised RDA text as part of our normal workflow. Many proposals include examples in the narrative portion of the proposal rather than as a specific recommendation, but I don't think it hurts anything to highlight them in a recommendation. ...

I feel conflicted about revising the definition and scope in this way. On the one hand, reinstating some of the language from the Original Toolkit adds valuable information about use cases for Corporate Body that are not obvious to many users (e.g., events, vessels). There is a similar refinement of ...

I support this proposal as written. Coming from the rare materials cataloging community, where we have very specific rules about preferred sources of information and data provenance, I welcome the clarity and consistency that the two new options will provide. As NARDAC mentions, additional policy statements ...
