Hello and welcome to the Authority Control Interest Group!

We are so grateful to have so many people interested in Authority Control! Just a quick introduction of myself. My name is Casey Cheney and I am now serving as the Chair for ACIG. I was a lurker at ACIG for a couple years before I became part of the steering committee back in 2019. Speaking of which, we have a wonderful steering committee (members-at-large) working behind the scenes to ensure that upcoming programs run smoothly and that we remain focused on what is relevant to the community. A hearty thanks to them for all of their support!

Every year we'll hold elections for various open positions. If you ever have ANY interest, please reach out when we post those calls!

We do have an easy way for you to post to our page on ALA Connect, you can email us via ALA-CoreAuthorityControl@ConnectedCommunity.org Feel free to start discussions either via this email or through the Connect Page itself.

There are a couple upcoming events I want to either make you aware of or remind you of!

    1. We have a special program coming up on September 27th @ 3pm ET to introduce the RVM thesaurus and editorial process, possibilities of RDA representative expression elements in authority records, as well as DEI initiatives surrounding subject terminology. If you haven't already, please pre-register for this event here: https://ala-events.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_i12Y4pCZTJaDMFDGU8HouQ

    2. Don't forget about the CORE Forum that will be held October 13-15, 2022 in Salt Lake City. I'm a little biased because it's in my state, but you all should definitely attend that! ACIG is not having a separate program there, but it should still be a great time to connect with each other.

I think that's all for now. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, or discussion topics!

    Thanks,

    Casey
