Purpose: Advocates for preservation of cultural heritage materials among librarians and non-librarians by offering educational opportunities and supporting outreach efforts both inside and outside of institutional library contexts. To promote understanding of preservation principles and objectives, development of preservation skill sets, and cultivation of potential preservation funding sources.

    The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Library will be hosting a free webinar on film preservation on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, as part of our Preservation Week 2023 programming. Cristina Kühn, Media Preservation and Digital Reformatting Project Manager, will present her webinar twice, in both English and Spanish. Please see below for details and registration links.     Do you have film collections? Are you interested in their long-term preservation but don't know how to get started?

    Join UIUC's Media Preservation program during Preservation Week 2023 for pro tips on film preservation fundamentals. Whether you have large or small collections, large or small budgets, this webinar will introduce participants to the basics of film inspection and handling. Participants will learn a film's physical condition through the inspection process, discover a variety of film equipment, and basic conservation treatment.

    Fundamentos de la Inspección y Conservación de Películas

    ¿Tienes colecciones de películas? ¿Está interesado en su conservación a largo plazo pero no sabe cómo empezar?

    Durante la Semana de Preservación 2023, el programa de Preservación de Materiales Audiovisuales de la Universidad de Illinois Urbana-Champaign organizará un seminario virtual que cubrirá los fundamentos de la inspección y conservación de películas.  Ya sea que tenga colecciones grandes o pequeñas, presupuestos grandes o pequeños, este seminario virtual presentará a los participantes los conceptos básicos de la inspección y el manejo de películas. Los participantes aprenderán la condición física de una película a través del proceso de inspección.  Descubrirán una variedad de equipos de filmación y tratamientos básicos de conservación.
