A year ago, the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Identity Management Advisory Committee (IMAC) launched the PCC's fifth program, the Entity Management Cooperative (EMCO). EMCO is designed to complement existing NACO and SACO programs and will eventually provide best practices for creating and editing identifiers in non-Library of Congress registries (e.g., Wikidata, ISNI, WorldCat Entities, and others) and using those identifiers in descriptive metadata. But first, we have to build EMCO! That is where the Early Adopters Phase comes in.
In the last year, EMCO Early Adopters Phase participants developed organizational infrastructure and founded three registry communities of practice. EMCO members helped one another identify training resources and tools for entity management work. Communities are beginning to work on metadata application profiles, define minimum requirements, and develop best practices.
If you are interested in helping the PCC build a program to support entity management work, consider joining the EMCO Early Adopters Phase's second cohort of participants. Unlike other PCC programs, EMCO has no minimum production requirements and anyone can join.
To express interest in joining the second cohort of the EMCO Early Adopters Phase and be included in upcoming information sessions, fill out this brief form by Friday, March 13, 2026: https://forms.gle/nVn8g4J191SJqHey8.
If you have questions not covered in the EMCO Wiki or EMCO FAQ, please let us know.
Best wishes,
On behalf of the PCC Identity Management Advisory Committee
