The Core MARC Formats Transition Interest Group is seeking proposals for presentations at 2026 Core Week. This session will be held online on Thursday, March 5 at 5 pm Eastern / 4 pm Central / 3 pm Mountain / 2 pm Pacific.
The MARC Formats Transition Interest Group provides a forum to educate the library community about ongoing efforts to transition from the MARC Standard for bibliographic data and examines new approaches and strategies for implementing bibliographic data models within the framework of linked open data and semantic web technology.
Please share your experiences with any of the following:
- MARC-to-BIBFRAME conversion
- Transitioning library workflows from MARC
- Experiences with transitioning to or testing BIBFRAME
- Future of metadata standards beyond MARC
- Training and education in BIBFRAME for MARC catalogers
- Any other aspect of MARC transitions that may be of interest
Please submit your proposal for a 10-to-15-minute presentation by January 30, 2026. Proposals should include name(s) of presenters, affiliations, emails, title of the presentation, and a short summary (250 words or less). Please send the submissions to Jeanne Piascik (jeanne.piascik@ucf.edu). Presenters do not need to be members of the IG but are most welcome to join. Presenters will be notified by February 12.
