Call for a motion to create the CC:DA Task Force to Review the 2025 Draft of IFLA's International Cataloguing Principles

  • 1.  Call for a motion to create the CC:DA Task Force to Review the 2025 Draft of IFLA's International Cataloguing Principles

    Posted Mar 25, 2025 04:50 PM

I invite a CC:DA voting member to propose a motion to create a short-term task force to prepare the CC:DA response to the 2025 draft of IFLA's International Cataloguing Principles with the following charge:

The Task Force to Review the 2025 Draft of IFLA's International Cataloguing Principles is charged with preparing a review of this draft document, for transmittal to the Chair of CC:DA no later than May 9, 2025.

    Procedural next steps:

    1. A voting member may simply reply to this message with the text: "I so move."
    2. A voting member willing to second the motion may reply to that message with the text: "I second."
    3. Once the motion is moved and seconded, discussion may ensue, also on this message thread.
Due to the fast-tracked nature of this response, I will consider the discussion closed at noon EDT on 3/26/25 and call for a vote.
    4. CC:DA voting members will then reply to this thread with their vote.
All CC:DA motions are approved by a simple majority.
I will appreciate your prompt responses!
    5. Once the motion is approved, I will form the Task Force.
    6. CC:DA will affirm this action during our meeting at ALA Annual.

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. I will post another message with a call for task force volunteers (anticipating that CC:DA will in fact approve this motion!)

    Thanks everyone!

At this point, the motion has passed with 6 positive votes; we will form the task force as soon as we can.

It's not to late for any Core member to volunteer to be on this task force! Let me know if you're interested.
