Hi Everyone,
At the recent June 2022 meeting of the Subject Analysis Committee there was considerable discussion on the deprofessionalization of classification and cataloging work – so much so that SAC members approved forming a working group to investigate the topic further. This is a call for members for the working group, and especially a call for a chair. SAC working groups do not have to be made up of SAC members only, but the chair of a SAC working group does need to be a current SAC member. If you are a SAC member interested in this working group, please seriously consider serving as chair to direct these efforts.
The working group is free to investigate the topic and to suggest actions. A charge should be created by the working group fairly soon to direct the efforts of the group. Here are the people that expressed interest in joining this working group during the June meeting:

Please respond to this post by August 17th whether you are still interested in serving on this committee or not interested anymore. Also respond if you are not on this initial list but would like to serve on this committee. I am attaching the part of the chat where we discussed this as a reminder of what came up and maybe where to start. I would like to see this get underway in the next month or so. SAC members, please consider chairing! This message has been posted on both the the SAC Connect member space and the SAC Connect public space.
Thank you!
