Following-up on our discussion earlier in the week, I wanted to share a couple of documents about Penn's abbreviated cataloging procedures. The first is the proposal which was written and approved pre-COVID, but not implemented. The second is a procedural document which we implemented this fall. One of the key savings is by sending to our offsite storage facility (LIBRA), we can complete cataloging without a call number (which saves time both in the cataloging and in the marking process). Although both documents are from the Global Studies perspective, we have also implemented in Central Cataloging for gift collections.
