  • 1.  review of library consultant scope of work?

    Posted Jan 21, 2022 12:55 PM
    Hello folks -

I'm a new public library director in southcentral Pennsylvania.

My library is interested in putting an RFP out soon to hire a consultant to help us navigate some of the bigger picture questions we're asking ourselves about the future of our library's structure, governance, finances, and operations. We are a department of our local municipality, which is uncommon in Pennsylvania, and there's some discussion about potentially making changes to that governance model, among other things.

I've been an active ALA and Core member for many years now, and I remembered that this group is here, and I've been asked to reach out and see if there are any consultants here who might be willing and available to review the draft copy of the current RFP / scope of work that we've developed. The Borough attempted to hire a library consultant earlier in 2021, before I was hired, and their search was unsuccessful - we think, at least partly, because they weren't really sure what they were asking for, or if the RFP was even reasonably conceivable. We've made substantial revisions since then and are hoping for some additional feedback.

If anyone has the time and energy to review - it's a short document, under two pages - please let me know and I will happily send it. Thanks in advance for your expertise. Once we're ready to go public with the RFP, I'd be happy to post it here as well in case there's anyone who might be interested.

    Thanks,
    -Shanna Hollich

    Hi Shanna,

please email your draft to martha@qualitymetricsllc.com and I will be happy to review it and possibly use it as a case study for our consultant's group in our upcoming meetings!  What is your timeline?

    Cheers, Martha
