Hello Fellow Core Library Consulting Interest Group Members!

As the date (March 8th) approaches for Core's Interest Group Week events, it seems like the perfect time to shine light on our membership.

I invite all of you to join in me in sharing a brief introduction of yourself, your work, and what you value about our group. Here I go...

I left my position as a HS Librarian after 17 years to work as an Account Implementation and Support Manager at TeachingBooks.net. During that time I was active in ALA via AASL serving in Affiliate Assembly, on the AASL Board & Executive Committee and for a term as the AASL Division Councilor. I loved every minute of it.
When I established a consulting firm, I knew I wanted to continue my career in the library world. With certification as a Conflict Mediator, my work focuses on team building and strengthening professional relationships which often begins with some level of conflict resolution.
I am excited to be serving as Co-Chair of the Library Consulting Interest Group. The active members have been welcoming and supportive which is exactly what I was hoping for and I'd love to meet all of you and build on this community.
Some personal info, I live in WI about an hour north of Madison with my spouse, Dave and a sassy rescue dog, Josie.  We are looking forward to being able to start traveling and have a trip planned to take our godson, Jacob to New Orleans for his spring break/16th birthday celebration.

Okay, enough about me to kick us off. Your turn....

    Hey everyone!

I'm Carson Block, a library technology consultant. I've been in library work for about 26 years and consulting for about 11 years, and was even the officer for this group a lot of years back! My woefully out-of-date website is http://www.carsonblock.com/

I believe in the power of libraries to change lives and our world for the better, and my job is to help equip libraries and library people to do that, no matter where!  Being in service to libraries of all sizes throughout the country is a tremendous privilege and a joyful responsibility.

I think a key value of this group is connecting to others to help hone our skills and share experiences to help libraries even more. I remember when I first started, I was invigorated by conversations with more seasoned consultants looking at trends folks were seeing in the field and brainstorming ways to help. I think today those trends might be how to thrive and serve in a decidedly uncertain world.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone at the session!

    Hello all!

My name is Vera Keown. I am an executive coach and facilitator.  I've been a special and academic librarian for 27 years, the last 7 as an Associate University Librarian and currently the Organizational Development Librarian at the University of Manitoba. I have been coaching professionals and leaders from many professions since 2019.

Through coaching, I empower people to realize their true potential so that they experience success and fulfillment in all their pursuits. I partner with clients so that they can become the leader they were meant to be through confidential, one-on-one executive and leadership coaching. I equip leaders with the skills, knowledge, and competencies to bring out the best in others through our leadership coach training. I provide insight with assessments and tools to enhance personal and team effectiveness. Finally, I champion innovation, collaboration, and positive change through engaging and energizing group and team facilitation and coaching.

I'm very excited to be part of the the Library Consulting IG. It has been a wonderful experience to meet other consultants, learn about what they do, and learn from each other. I'm really looking forward to this session! It is so great to have a community like this.

I little bit about me...., I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with my husband, teenage son, and our yellow lab mix dog. When I'm not working, I love spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors, travelling the world to experience new cultures, and I have recently taken up roller skating again!

    Cheers,
    Vera

    Greetings!

Really happy to be co-chairing this Core Library Consulting Interest Group with the amazing Co-Chair, Valerie Edwards.  I saw the transition of this group from ASGCLA to Core and really glad to see the momentum it is gaining through Core.

My name is Martha Kyrillidou and I am the proud director of QualityMetrics LLC since 2016!  I am working with all types of libraries as well as state library agencies and engage in planning, assessment, strategy, facilities, etc.  Everything about libraries is the core of our business.

Prior to being a full-time consultant, I run the Association and Research Libraries Research and Analytics program for 20+ years; compiled ARL Statistics, ARL Salary Survey data, and co-developed well known and widely applied protocols like LibQUAL+, ClimateQUAL, Mines for Libraries ... as well as less known efforts such as DigiQUAL and LibValue. I continue to be very active in the library assessment community of practice and immersed in LSTA Evaluations right now.

I love the diversity of this Core Library Consulting Interest Group and looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!

    Hi all,

Thanks Valerie for your leadership. It's great to be part of this group.

I'm Debbie Joy, consultant and marketing director at LibraryIQ, a division of Library Systems & Services. My background is in marketing, development, grant writing and, of course, public libraries. LibraryIQ offers consulting in strategic planning, library operations, facilities assessment and planning, technology assessment and planning and community needs assessment.  We also offer an analytics platform (software) that helps libraries capture, analyze and use data.

I'm a big believer in the future of libraries as community hubs and my favorite part of the job is helping libraries evolve while staying true to our core values of access, information, education and life enrichment.  It's a pleasure to be part of the group and I look forward to getting to know you all better.
    Thanks
    Debbie
