That was a fabulous meeting! Thank you all.

And I am so interested in what Ginny was about to say. Voting will definitely be a challenge.

YES! I am sorry the meeting ended and we lost the full content of what Ginny had to say. Your years of experience representing school libraries throughout ALA is valuable. Please share with us in this forum, too.
    Thank you.

A big THANK YOU to all of you for your input. Those of us in the FTRWG appreciate your voice and we pledge to listen.
Before we were cut off, I wanted to put a bug in your ear. I think the best way to increase member engagement among those struggling with lack of resources (and who isn't?) is by supporting their work/life balance. If they were paid sufficiently and their institutions paid for their ALA membership, the organization wouldn't have to worry about losing members. I think the key still lies in labor causes.

I agree with Dorcas and Diane.  Being new to the ALA Council, I am assuming that the Youth Caucus does not have a separate connect space where we continue to discuss the issues?

As mentioned in the meeting, I am concerned about the representation of youth librarians and in particular school librarians in the current FTRWG resolutions.

Thank you all for a great discussion,

    --Kathy

    Interesting,
I see two "Youth Council Caucus" groups (the one I linked and the one you linked)

It looks like one is a Group (controlled through the membership database)

and the other is a Community (that individuals can join on demand).

As Aaron notes, the Youth Council Caucus does already have a space in Connect – open to anyone with an account, including non-ALA members: https://connect.ala.org/communities/community-home?CommunityKey=9c589589-6532-437f-803b-c682e0bbe292.

David Sheffieck, the ALA Community Engagement Manager (aka "Mr. Connect") said he would be happy to schedule a demo webinar for the Youth Council Caucus if they would like; he said, "please feel free to give them my email." It is: dsheffieck@ala.org

Glad to hear the Youth Caucus had a good discussion today!

I agree with what was said and expressed at the meeting. It is good to hear other voices and concerns and voting will be a challenge, but now I have more information. I was sad the meeting ended, but still got so much good feedback! Thank you to ALL who attended!
