ALCTS FRBR Interest Group
Friday, January 23, 2009, 10:30a-12:00p

The interest group focused mostly on three presentations on FRBR-related topics:

The presenters shared some results from an ongoing IMLS-funded FRBR project (http://frbr.slis.kent.edu/):

  • identifying key issues in FRBR development;
  • user study and evaluation of existing FRBR systems and online catalogs;
  • FRBRization of a large library collection using the OCLC Workset Algorithm;
  • a plan to develop a FRBR-based catalog.

Designing Future Systems and Taking Advantage of FRBR and RDA, with Barbara Tillett, Library of Congress

FRBR Update from VTLS, with John Espley, VTLS Inc.

This was followed by questions and answers for the presenters, and general discussion of FRBR.
