  • 1.  when a book changes size...

    All,

Good afternoon. We all know that books sent to us for long term storage can change size, generally after a book comes back from Conservation in a bigger archival housing. I would love to learn how you manage this situation locally, particularly if you work at a Harvard style high density facility. What work flows, tools or policies help you not end up with a bunch of empty spaces all over your stacks.

    Thanks,

    Cathy

    Good morning!

If an item is returned to us and no longer fits in the tray it came from, we reassign it to a new tray. The software we use, CaiaSoft, allows us to record the empty space in the original tray. Recording the space in the original tray allows us to go back and backfill the tray.
