This webinar introduces rare map cataloging with the original RDA Toolkit and includes discussion of DCRM(C): Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Cartographic), highlighting the distinctive aspects of cataloging pre-twentieth century maps. The aim is to assist those who rarely work with maps. Participants will become familiar with searching for cataloging records in WorldCat and selecting the best record for the map in hand. They will be able to decide when a new record is justified and be able to add an original cataloging record. The webinar will also briefly review map subject analysis and Library of Congress call numbers.
