Hello!
I'm the co-chair of the Core Year Five Year Steering Committee. As you may have seen, we're having an event to celebrate five years of Core on September 10. We are inviting Chris Rosser and Michael Hanegan to present on their new book Generative AI and Libraries: Claiming Our Place in the Center of a Shared Future. We'd like to have a few Core members kick off the discussion with prepared questions for the authors that highlight different aspect of Core. I'm hoping some members of the AI and ML IG might be interested. Here's what I'd ask of you:
- Read the 30 page sample of the book linked from here: https://alastore.ala.org/libgenAI
- Prepare 1-2 questions that come from different Core perspectives.
- If possible, attend a practice session on August 29 at noon central time.
- Attend the event on September 10 from 1-2:30 PM (register here: https://alacorenews.org/2025/08/20/core-5th-year-anniversary-event-celebrating-core-and-looking-to-the-future/) and be ready to ask your question during the Q&A portion.
If you are interested, please email mheller4@depaul.edu ASAP. Thanks!
