    How do you show appreciation or thank your staff? We have annual achievement awards, but I am looking for ideas to show appreciation throughout the year. Thank you for sharing!

    Thank you to everyone who came to this month's leadership discussion session. Our topic was strategic planning. 

    In our session folks shared their work to either revise existing plans or to write new ones. The degree to which staff are involved in this work varied, but many take a participatory approach. One leader described putting out an open call so that folks on the committee would have opted in and so may be more invested in the outcome. 

    When thinking about how to help staff see themselves in these often high-level plans, leaders talked about incorporating this topic into annual goal setting and/or performance reviews. Leaders also shared strategies for celebrating milestones, such as all-staff presentations, prizes for BINGO, and general recognition. 

    Related to this topic, we spent some time discussing how to help make one unit's work visible to others in the organization. A speed dating strategy, all-staff presentations, and informal conversations were some potential approaches.
