Purpose: Provides a forum for discussion of issues related to Linked Library Data and the role of library metadata in the Semantic web. Goals include: raising awareness of Semantic Web technologies, such as the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the use of URIs as identifiers within bibliographic descriptions; promoting research on linked data challenges, such as domain modeling and vocabulary selection and design; and informing the ongoing development of existing metadata standards for Libraries, Archives and Cultural Heritage Institutions.

    A gentle reminder that the Share-VDE Workshop is scheduled for Monday 26th June at 8.30am – 10.30am Central US time, at ALA Conference 2023 in Chicago (McCormick Place convention center, meeting room W192c).

    The meeting is free and open and will be held in hybrid format, both in presence and online. For those who can join the session in presence, please note that the physical meeting room can accommodate up to 80 people.

    After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The session will be recorded. 

    The Share-VDE Workshop will provide an overview of the Share Family and Share-VDE, discussing the advantages of a collaborative approach to linked data and knowledge sharing, showcasing recent advancements in infrastructure, interoperability and tools such as JCricket – the tool for entity management and a dedicated editor for linked data editing enabling entity sharing – and presenting progress reports from its working groups, members of the Share Family who play an active and collaborative role in defining the direction of developments through a constant exchange of ideas and principles that benefit the entire Share community.

    We are also delighted to participate as contributors at the Library of Congress BIBFRAME Update, due to take place at 12 Central US time on Monday 26th June. (zoom link login to join at 12 noon).

    Tiziana Possemato will address the meeting on the benefits of adopting the BIBFRAME-based entity environment from different perspectives, as she discusses Catering for consortia in the BIBFRAME environment: case histories from the Share Family. For further information contact info@svde.org.
