You are invited to become the new chair of the Core Consortium Management Interest Group!
This is a one-year term of service starting July 1, 2024. (If you need to start a bit later in the year, that's fine too.)
Chair responsibilities are quite light: (1) submit a simple activity report twice a year and (2) participate in the Core Interest Group Week in March 2025 and host a Fall 2024 program or discussion if possible. More detailed expectations are available here: https://alacore.org/handbook/interest-groups/ig-chair-responsibilities/. Additional activities are always welcomed and encouraged, of course! All Interest Group activities can be fully virtual, and there is no expectation for chairs to attend a Core or ALA in-person meeting. Chairs have broad discretion on types of activities, topics of discussion, and so on.
Core staff are available to help, and they can host Zoom webinars for Interest Groups upon request. Interest Group documentation is available.
If you're not quite ready to serve as chair, please consider serving as vice chair! In this role, you would assist the chair to organize Interest Group activities (schedule programming, recruit speakers, host Zoom sessions, and so on) before taking over as chair on July 1, 2025.
