I missed the opportunity to schedule a meeting for us before OCLC got you on their schedule in February. At our last meeting we agreed to meet soon-ish to continue our conversation related to our standing within Core. Please fill out this poll to indicate your availability for that continued conversation (note, this meeting will again be closed to those who are members of our committee). Since our last meeting, I heard from Core Metadata and Collections leadership about the type of group we are and wanted to share that with you (in case it informs your attendance):
To follow up on this. Angie Ohler (M&C Leadership Team Past Chair) and I [Amber] have been talking about the unique position that your committee as well as CCDO have within our Section. We understand that your groups are composed of members that meet specific criteria determined by defined statistics. Your groups are not quite committees and not quite interest groups, but they play a very important and integral role within our Section and how our slice of the profession examines and coordinates big issues.
There is an offer to meet with our leadership to talk about options, but I've requested that we postpone that conversation until our committee has a better understanding of its identity.
Regarding ALA Annual, I don't have any specific plans from Core to share, but it would be helpful to know who is planning on attending in person and would like to meet. Please fill out this brief survey.
