We hope you have enjoyed the start of 2025. It is always a busy time, particularly for library leaders and managers!
We are working to schedule topics and guest speakers for our monthly zoom drop-ins on the second Wednesday of each month at 10am Pacific /11am Mountain /12pm Central /1pm Eastern. These events are open to anyone regardless of library type, and do not require membership in ALA or ALA Core. Participants can stop in for a minute or stay for the entire session. The sessions are not recorded to encourage open and honest discussion.
Our first event of the season is set for Wednesday, February 12. We will have an open conversation under the theme of "Leading During Times of Change." Any type of change can cause stress and anxiety for patrons and employees – changes inside the library administration, changes in the larger institution, and even political change at the state or federal level. Come and join the hive mind for advice to navigate challenging times.
Also mark your calendars for the Leadership and Management IG week session at 1pm Central on Monday, March 3rd. We often celebrate our leadership successes, but what about our leadership failures? We will be featuring leaders who will present lightning talks sharing their fails with our supportive community. Interested in giving a lightning talk? We are looking for folks who would like to share their experience. If you are interested, email Lori Birrell (lori@birrell.us) to learn more.
Zoom links for each of these events will be posted soon. For now, be sure to add them to your calendar and plan to attend. We look forward to seeing everyone on the February 12 and March 3!
