Please save the date Friday, March 7, at 12:00 pm Eastern for a panel presentation Making the Case for Metadata hosted by ALA Core Technical Services Directors of Large Research Libraries Interest Group (TSD) and Chief Collection Development Officers Interest Group (CCDO).
Metadata has long been mission critical to the discovery, use, and management of a spectrum of library collections. The increasingly prevalent role of AI in research and teaching, demands for more open access in scholarly communication, and the globalized nature of the knowledge economy make the metadata rights of libraries vital for facilitating broad programs and services.
As part of the 2025 Core Virtual Interest Group Week, the session will feature short presentations from colleagues about their metadata use cases which call for the prioritization and preservation of metadata rights in licensing, projects, and partnerships. Hope you'll join us!
