Please find below a summary of the work of the Metadata Standards Committee 25-26.

The committee prepared the groundwork for the following projects:

    • Assessed the current content and format of the ALCTS Standards LibGuide.  Made decisions to help reduce maintenance by leveraging assets and set expectations related to the content of the guide. The committee now has full access to the guide and will begin updating in the next year.
    • The committee reached out to the broader community to solicit feedback and use cases for the Metadata Schema Assessment Framework.  Internal conversations began about pedagogical uses for the Framework and ways that the committee can improve visibility and usability. The committee will review the Framework every two years, with the first cycle beginning in fall 2026.

The Leadership Team appointed a NISO liaison to begin in July 2026, and the committee will resume recommendations to NISO at that time. We also have a newly formed connection via a PCC liaison to help communicate work across the organizations.

The full semiannual reports for the Metadata Standards Committee can be found in the Core Handbook.  Please let me know if you have any questions or comments to forward to the committee.
