REMINDER Survey on use of case paper in conservation

  • 1.  REMINDER Survey on use of case paper in conservation

Just a reminder that we would like replies by November 7th if you have not yet replied.

Dear Preservation and Conservation Colleagues –

We here at the University of Illinois have been working on a collaborative project between the University Library's Conservation program and the Fresh Press papermaking studio to produce a new, sustainably sourced case paper. Some of you may be familiar with this project as we presented on it at the 2019 AIC conference (A Case for a New Case Paper: From Farm to Table to Desk to Bench). Though the project progress slowed during the pandemic, we have picked back up where we left off and are continuing to move forward. One of the major next steps for us is to gauge whether or not the production of a new case paper to our field would be financially sustainable for our campus.  To that end, we have partnered with our Gies School of Business to work with a team of upperclassmen who are doing a "break-even analysis" for the future production of our paper. Below, you will find a link to a survey they have drafted that will help them (and us) immensely in determining the potential market for a new case paper, which the students really need to do their analysis.  Please take a moment to answer a short survey about your past and potential use for case papers in book conservation (or other uses you may have). We really appreciate your help! Survey responses are appreciated by no later than Monday November 7th.
