    Dear colleagues,

    This is a friendly reminder that the ALA Core MARC Formats Transition Interest Group is seeking submissions for a presentation proposal for the 2024 ALA Core IG Week, March 4-8. The IG's session will be held online on March 6, 2024, from 2-3 pm (CST)/3-4pm (EST)/12-1pm (PST).  

    The IG will explore the MARC format and its transition in the linked data environment, covering a range of topics, and welcome your proposal.  

    Theme: MARC and Its Transition in the Linked Data (LD) Environment

    Possible topics could include (but are not limited to):  
    • Pilot projects testing the feasibility of transitioning from MARC to LD models
    • Strategies for managing the coexistence of MARC and LD during the transitional phase
    • Tools and techniques for integrating LD practices into existing MARC-based workflows
    • Challenges libraries face in transitioning from MARC to the LD environment
    Each presenter will be allotted either 15 minutes for a full presentation or 5-10 minutes for a light presentation. Please include in your proposal the following information:  
    Presentation title  
    Presenter name(s), affiliation & email(s)  
    A brief (250 words or less) summary of the topic  
    Preferred time to present the topic  

    Please submit your proposal to the IG Co-chairs, Sai Deng (sai.deng@ucf.edu) and Keiko Suzuki (suzukik@newschool.edu) by Friday, February 2, 2024.
