Subject: Reminder Coffee Talk Friday 7/12 at 12 PM - CDT - Accessing e-resources: student perspective
Hi all -- a friendly reminder of the CORE Collection Evaluation and Assessment Interest Group coffee talk on Friday, July 12th at 12:00 PM Central Daylight Time. We will be having a presentation and time for questions and answers.
Tara Tobin Cataldo, STEM Collections & Research Metrics Librarian at the Marston Science Library at the University of Florida will present:
Accessing e-resources: the student perspective
You made the purchase, you gave the provider your IP addresses, and you activated the new e-resources in your knowledgebase or loaded bib records. Done. But maybe not. So many of our e-resources are discovered via Google and for a long time we have lamented, "students think everything is free on the internet". However, a large research study reveals many students now expect paywalls to such a degree, they won't even consider certain e-resources. See findings from the Researching Students' Information Choices project to learn where a little more work may be needed to help students access academic e-resources.
