    Rebecca--

I have a question about the CVEG report. You can answer as part of the SAC meeting if you want.

I looked at the form for proposing new or revised terms. I wonder if you have gotten any responses, particularly whether anyone had given you as much information as the form calls for. ARLIS/NA Cataloging Advisory Committee and Art SACO both went for simpler forms under the assumption that the proposal suggestion might lead to a "reference interview" in which you gleaned more fodder for the new or revised term.

    https://forms.gle/9jQKG3osUFpuheTr7 (CAC form)

    https://sites.google.com/site/artsaco/terminology-suggestions (Art SACO)

    Thanks.

    Sherman

    Hi Sherman,

Thanks for your question! Only a few of the fields in CVEG's proposal form are actually required fields, and we only expect proposers to fill out fields that seem applicable and for which they can easily ascertain the information. We've had a few proposals come in so far with a pretty wide range of how much detail the proposers included. If a proposal is on the sparse side and CVEG finds that we need additional information about a proposed new or revised term, the co-editors will reach out to the proposer via email to get clarification.

You make a good point, though-it's not clear from our instructions what information is required/not required or how much detail CVEG is expecting in a proposal. Thanks for sharing links to the CAC and Art SACO forms. I'll pass them along to the CVEG co-editors, and hopefully CVEG can discuss how to make our expectations for proposers clearer.

    Best wishes,

    Rebecca
