Public Services Quarterly Seeks a Marketing Column Editor

  • 1.  Public Services Quarterly Seeks a Marketing Column Editor

    Posted Feb 16, 2023 02:34 PM

PSQ is published four times per year by Taylor & Francis, and features a strong set of columns each issue, including professional reading reviews, best of the literature summaries,  internet resources reviews, and others.

Our Marketing column features essays about a variety of creative and innovative marketing strategies used to highlight collections of promote services. Its purpose is to provide real examples of how libraries are using marketing and outreach techniques in interesting ways. The column offers practical insight from libraries engaged with marketing. In addition to marketing, the column also features essays on successful programs and events that promote the library.  Columns from our 2022 issue featured highlighting student assistants, creating an outreach series, marketing a library that had a temporary home in an ice rink, and getting started using TikTok. The TikTok column was one of PSQ's most viewed papers in 2022.

With our current editor stepping down after 10 years, I am seeking someone new to take over the reins. The editor solicits columns from authors and works with them to shape their piece for publication. The new editor would work with the outgoing editor for our 19(4) issue due September 4, and then be responsible for the column beginning with the 20(1) issue, due December 4.

This professional service opportunity offers the chance to be on the forefront of marketing ideas and forge connections with colleagues nationally and internationally. It is a rewarding experience shepherding a piece to publication. If you would be interested in this opportunity, please send me an email with some information about your experience and qualifications.

    Warm regards,

    Kim Mitchell, PSQ Editor-in-Chief
