  • 1.  Planning Agenda for Big-Heads Annual meeting

    Posted May 24, 2021 11:36 AM
    Hello everyone,

As you know the Bigheads 2021 Annual meeting will be Monday June 14, 3:00-4:00 (EST). We need to begin planning the agenda. For annual, Dracine, Morag and I discussed the following topics:

    1. LC BibFrame update --  (Beacher has graciously agreed to present updates)
    2. Total cost of stewardship as a case for Technical Services staffing
Some possible areas of discussion could be:
How do you make the case for increased staffing
What are the effects of reduced staffing on Technical Services
    - Metadata as a service -- What is its value?
    - Outsourcing vs Collective cataloging - What is the impact of not investing in Metadata Resources
    - Is there a possibility for greater coordination across institutions?

    3. Open Discussion - "What's on your Mind"
    4. Election

Please let me know if you would like to lead the second agenda item or are doing interesting work in this area that you would like to present to the group.

We are accepting nominations for our 2021-2022 chair-elect. Please send any nomination you may have to Dracine, Morag and me. Finally, it is time to begin submitting our Annual Round Robin Reports.  Please send completed reports to the list.

    Thanks,

    Nina

    Dear Nina,

I would like to ask Jason Kovari, Director of Cataloging and Metadata Services, to attend the meeting on my behalf for Cornell.

    Best,

    Xin
