    Hi everyone,

Thank you for another great discussion at our October session! Here are some themes and takeaways:

    1. We discussed decreased participation in professional organizations like ALA
    2. How are we spending our time and limited resources-is there a loss of advocacy
    3. How are we ensuring connections with colleagues and members if there is decreased interest and participation in professional organizations
    4. We also talked about the role of library schools in helping to increase interest in the profession
    5. Some folks talked about starting new roles and how they approached that process
    6. We then switched to talking about AI and the role of libraries related to that. A couple of book recommendations
      1. The last human job: https://press.princeton.edu/books/hardcover/9780691240817/the-last-human-job
      2. Ethical considerations: https://www.merit.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Components_Ethical-Framework.pdf

On November 5th at 11am PST/12pm CST/1pm MST/2pm EST we will focus on challenges associated with consolidations and re-organizations and will be facilitated by Danianne and Anne. Here is the link to attend and we look forward to seeing you then!
