    TSD Colleagues,

I'm writing on behalf of Steve Sherry, Acting Director, National Library of Medicine (NLM) and Dianne Babski, Associate Director for the NLM User Services and Collections Division (USCD), to share this announcement of organizational changes at NLM.

Library Operations (LO) Division is now officially the User Services and Collection Division (USCD).

As of January 1, 2024, we have officially accomplished Goal 1 of our 2021-2036 Long Range Plan to Create a Modernized Organizational Structure for re-envisioning our products, services, and operations for the Library's diverse users around the world. In looking to the future, we remain committed to our legislative mandate to collect, preserve, and disseminate biomedical literature and health information. At the same time, we will continue to evolve our information management practices that embrace new technological capabilities and provide users with access to trusted information. This year, we will continue to take steps to unify and transform the NLM Collection so that all our material can be accessed and preserved for future users regardless of a date, format, or whether it is a physical piece or born digital content. To help users more easily navigate our products and services, we are harnessing health data standards and unifying our platforms and databases to be more interoperable for greater discoverability. We are also making our interfaces consistent for a more seamless user experience. Further updates and information about the reorganization are available on the updated User Services and Collection Division (USCD) webpage.

With Jennifer Marill's retirement at the end of 2023, I'm now the Acting Chief of the Discovery Branch within the new User Services and Collection Division, and will be NLM's representative to this interest group.  I look forward to working with all of you in the coming months.

    Regards,
