We would like to announce a new listserv managed by the Library of Congress, Preservation Directorate for people who operate and manage library, archives, and other collections storage facilities. Storage facilities tend to operate in isolation, and unfortunately there is no national professional association focused on the combination of logistics, facilities management, and collections care knowledge required by this work. We hope that this forum will provide a tool to help professionals connect with peers to exchange know-how and share effective practices.
If you would like to join this listserv, please follow these instructions:
Send an email to
LISTSERV@listserv.loc.gov
Leave the subject blank but include the following command in the message body:
SUBSCRIBE COLLECTIONS-STORAGE-OPERATIONS
You will receive a reply with the subject that reads "Command confirmation request" and an ID Number. That message has instructions to confirm your subscription. You can do this by clicking the link in the message or replying to the message with
OK (ID Number)
After you confirm your email you will receive an email with the subject "You are now subscribed to the COLLECTIONS-STORAGE-OPERATIONS list" and a summary of the listserv addresses and instructions.
Once you are subscribed, you can post messages by sending an email to COLLECTIONS-STORAGE-OPERATIONS@LISTSERV.LOC.GOV.
