Please join us Friday, March 7, from 12:00- 1:00 pm Eastern for a panel presentation Making the Case for Metadata hosted by ALA Core Technical Services Directors of Large Research Libraries Interest Group (TSD) and Chief Collection Development Officers Interest Group (CCDO).

    Join Zoom Meeting

    https://washington.zoom.us/j/96824371843?pwd=demRGNRbXSrxeKoO9vHIO7V5ee7k8W.1

    Meeting ID: 968 2437 1843

    Passcode: 369392

As part of the 2025 Core Virtual Interest Group Week, the session will include two presentations that highlight the prioritization and preservation of metadata rights in licensing, projects, and partnerships.

    1. No One "Owns" That Metadata:  Copyright and the Problems with [Library] Vendor Agreements
Speakers: Kyle K. Courtney (Harvard University), Kathleen DeLaurenti (Johns Hopkins University), and Matthew Kopel (Princeton University)
    1. Consortial metadata collaborations and projects
Speakers: Jill Morris (PALCI) and Mark Sullivan (IDS Project)

Metadata has long been mission critical to the discovery, use, and management of a spectrum of library collections. The increasingly prevalent role of AI in research and teaching, demands for more open access in scholarly communication, and the globalized nature of the knowledge economy make the metadata rights of libraries vital for facilitating broad programs and services.

Hope you'll join us!  See agenda and zoom login details online.

    Best,

    Denise
