    Hi all,

In January, I'll write the half-year update on the activities of this group.

So far, that has been to submit a proposal for ALA for a Friday program and plan for that event and then sharing news via emails.

As part of the update, I am requested to provide the name of the next chair of this group. The ALA would prefer to have a new chair each year, and I've been chair on and off for quite a few years now. If you are interested, please email me off list at mblackwell@stmalib.org

The duties are pretty much what you want them to be.  You may call virtual meetings of the group, do webinars, and/or submit program proposals for ALA or Core Forum, or perhaps simply keep the list posted about library ebook developments.

The request for a Friday program at Annual was not accepted. I'm following up to see when our group can simply have a meeting then; if so, we will have a lightning round of presenters and probably a panel or two anyway.

I've heard rumors that the remaining three of the Big 5 that offer "perpetual" one copy/one users digital audio are going over to metered access.  That would be a big (and unwelcome) change.  I haven't been able to verify these rumors. We can hope they are just rumors.  If anyone has heard anything, please let me know.

    Happy holidays to all!

    Michael
