About this Group

👐 Anyone can view all content in the group, but only people who join it can post to it. Anyone can join to participate.

Purpose: Provides a dedicated forum for the discussion of conceptual models, such as IFLA-LRM and BIBFRAME 2.0, that serve as the basis for current cataloging standards or are expected to provide a foundation for future cataloging standards in a Linked Open Data environment. Topics of special interest include: theoretical foundations of bibliographical conceptual models; the implementation of bibliographical conceptual models in information systems (especially Linked Data-based systems); extensions of current conceptual models; ontologies and conceptual models used in GLAM institutions.

Linked data + AI: Follow up on 03/07 BCMIG session

Thanks again to our speakers Gloria Gonzalez and Robert Sanderson, and to all attendees, for the session last week on implementing the BIBFRAME model and vocabulary for library data. We will follow up in the coming days to provide the session recording and additional information.

One of the questions submitted during the event, which we weren't able to address live, was a request for information about the ways in which linked data (for example, BIBFRAME RDF data) and artificial intelligence (AI) might work together to improve discovery and/or other library services.

I've begun collecting readings relevant to the relationship between linked data and AI in an open Zotero collection, and would like to invite colleagues to share additional resources, articles, or other thoughts on the topic here.
