Want to read a bunch of science fiction and help to name the best of the year? Consider volunteering for Core's Excellence in Children's and Young Adult Science Fiction Notables Committee. You can volunteer using the form here: https://www.ala.org/core/member-center/committees/sfnotables-committee

The commitment is roughly one hour a month of committee meetings and approximately 80-90 books across picture, middle grades, and YA to read. I would be happy to answer questions about how the committee works and if you have questions about membership requirements, reach out to Jenny Levine, the committee's awesome ALA staff laison.

    Thanks!!

If you are having trouble getting to the volunteer sign-up, it's not you. There are some tricksy steps.

    • Go to the volunteer page  to get started
    • Follow the prompts to log into ALA
    • Select Core from the group drop down menu, not ALA
    • The committee name you are looking for on the long list is "Core Cmt Recognizing Excellence in Children's and YA SF"
We look forward to having you in the group!
