Here is some background information to support an item on the agenda for the upcoming Feb. 2024 meetings of CC:DA.

IFLA formed the ISBD for Manifestation Task Force in November 2019. The Task Force was charged to:
- Complete an alignment of the ISBD to the LRM at the Manifestation entity level;
- Analyze the gaps in the element sets of the 2021 Update of the ISBD Consolidated edition 2011;
- Produce the ISBD for Manifestation (ISBDM); that is an element set for the alignment with stipulations for describing an ISBD manifestation according to LRM.
Members of the task force gave a two-hour webinar on Jan. 26, 2023 reporting on the work in progress to align the ISBD Standard to the IFLA LRM. They have since implemented a comprehensive review process for the first draft, to ensure that the new online tool ISBDM becomes a sustainable and reliable set of rules for the user communities worldwide and at the same time can be the basis for the expansion to other entities of the LRM. The review plan is:
- ISBDM Task Force Review (from mid July until the end of September 2023)
- ISBD Review Group Review (beginning of November until end of December 2023)
- Experts Review (from mid February until mid April 2024)
- Official world-wide Review (from mid May until mid July 2024)
The December 2023 IFLA Metadata Newsletter describes the "Experts Review" as follows (p. 18):
"This part of the review process will be with metadata experts like the ISSN International Centre (ISSN IC), the RDA Steering Committee (RSC), the MARC Advisory Committee (MAC) and all relevant IFLA sections. Starting point will be a meeting with the invited experts at 8 February 2024. Invitations for this kick-off meeting were send [sic] out in mid December 2023."
Since CC:DA was not included in this list of experts, the committee has an opportunity to respond during the official world-wide review, which is described as follows (op. cit.):
"This review phase will be initiated through information events such as webinars etc. The first webinar for all interested colleagues before starting this phase is planned for 25 April 2024."
