Hi CCDO colleagues-
The calendar would have me believe that November is not that far away (!), so it's time to start preparing for the Charleston Conference. If you plan to attend in person, I would like to extend a personal invitation to two events:
- The second CollectUn: Leadership in Technical Services Unconference. This free, informal, Charleston-adjacent (but not official Charleston) gathering will bring together collections ADs, AULs, and their peers to discuss topics of shared interest and build relationships across libraries. It will be held at the College of Charleston's Addlestone Library (walking distance from the Francis Marion Hotel) on Tuesday, November 4, 9:00-12:00. We'll also have a cocktail hour on Monday, November 3.
- A free-to-attend preconference (part of the official Charleston program) on the topic "How Can Libraries and Publishers Collaborate to Make Backlist Monographs Open Access?" (scroll down to "Afternoon Preconferences: Tuesday, November 4, 1:00-4:00).
I hope many of you will be able to join us for one or both of these events, and I look forward to seeing you at Charleston!
Best wishes,
Miranda
