Introducing "Maintenance Culture: Sustaining Digital Creative Works"

We're excited to announce the start of Myriad's NEH-funded project to develop digital preservation training and resources, focused on preserving complex born-digital collections at small institutions.

Follow the project on Myriad's website and at #MaintenanceCulture on social media. Sign up for Myriad's newsletter for project updates and announcements including:

    • Field Guide and Workbook for preserving digital creative works
    • Zine about digital preservation for digital artists and creators
    • White paper mapping past and current projects addressing the preservation of complex, born-digital works, and recommending strategies for sustainability
    • 6 free digital preservation workshops and skill share events, in New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, and Baltimore, focused on smaller institutions and independent creators. If you live near any of these cities, sign up to get involved in your local community

Maintenance Culture will address challenges small institutions face in preserving and sustaining access to complex born-digital creative works such as digital art, podcasts, virtual publications, and other at-risk formats.

Stakeholders, including creators and culture workers, will collaborate to build on existing resources and develop free training and materials to help memory institutions and creators ensure the longevity of their digital works.

The project is funded by a Preservation Education and Training grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
