Hi y'all, I wanted to share out ISKME's Guiding Principles for Responsible AI in the World of "Open."
My organization put a cap on these last week so that we can be more transparent, directed, and accountable about how we're using generative AI in our particular context (knowledge management and library services), and I'm bringing them here in case it's helpful for you and yours. Admittedly, our scope is a bit different from the average library as we focus nearly completely on openly licensed materials, but one of the things I've heard from all the various events I've been at relating to AI is wanting to see examples of policy or guidance that others' organizations are using.
It was a long time coming to get to these (the joys of being a scrappy nonprofit) but I feel really good about having gotten them together. It's worth noting that the committee in our org who put this together has 2 (!) librarians on it out of a total of 6 people, and hopefully some of our professional values have shone through.
If anyone has questions, I'm happy to field them! Good luck, and happy thanksgiving. :)
