Hello!
We all face new challenges in our technical services work every day. With 378 members in this interest group, someone else is probably facing the same challenge you are facing or has already come up with a creative solution. To help share those ideas and solutions, we are going to start posting The Conundrum of the Month. We will post a challenge or conundrum to the interest group to ALA Connect at the start of the month, asking the membership to contribute their creative ideas and solutions. You will receive an email with the conundrum in the same way that you received this email – either in real time as it was posted or in digest, depending on your ALA Connect notification settings. In this way, we hope to mine the intellect of this wonderful interest group for the benefit of all.
To do this, we need your help. Please send your current challenge directly to Robin Buser at rbuser@cscc.edu. Please do not replay directly to this message. We will gather the challenges, make them anonymous, and post one a month to the group. To engage your creative juices, here are some ideas:
*Help with designing a workflow or process
*Finding ways to use AI
*New ideas for tracking purchases or renewals for electronic resources
*Making your catalog language more respective and inclusive
*Hiring in Technical Services
*Taking on a Technical Services role when you always wanted to be a Reference Librarian
*Your role in collection development and collection management
