The 2020 South Asia Cooperative Collection Development Workshop's focus was to explore and document the state of cataloging and metadata support for South Asian materials in our libraries, particularly as that support has a direct impact on our ability to grow and to share our collections. Many suggestions emerged from that workshop, including a recognition that we need to more actively and vocally advocate for our needs.
Those needs, however, are shared beyond the South Asian library community. As such, we invite you to review our collective "Statement on Cataloging and Metadata" and consider if the concerns expressed there resonate with your own work. If so, and if you'd like to add your name to the list of signatories to this statement, please provide your information here by March 31, 2021.
We are happy to answer any questions and to explore all solutions. Please feel free to contact us for further discussion.
