Hi everyone,
Here is more information on the Discovery Session (
Thursday, February 2, 2023, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM EST) that I mentioned in the LC/PTCP report last week.

The Library of Congress Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs Division (PTCP) is hosting a Discovery Session on behalf of BIG (BIBFRAME Interoperability Group), LD4, OCLC, and Share-VDE.
The session will showcase four existing discovery systems, with 15-minute presentations by representatives of those systems. The presentations will explore the current potential of each system, and launch a discussion of the possibilities for future discovery systems. The Discovery Session is not an evaluation of systems, as each system is unique and has something different to offer. Both MARC and BIBFRAME/Linked Data discovery systems will be showcased. A panel discussion will follow the presentations. There will be time for a Q and A session after the panel discussion.
The four Discovery Session presenters are:
- Stephen Betts (NYPL)
- Steven Folsom (Cornell)
- Fredrick Klingwall (National Library of Sweden)
- Filip Jakobsen (Samhaeng - Work Share-VDE Discovery)
These four discovery systems were not selected based on their underlying data structures (MARC or BIBFRAME/Linked Data). PTCP selected four of the discovery systems that ranked either highest in an environmental scan and evaluation of existing discovery systems, or offered user options that were unique and worth exploring in more depth.
NO registration required. Please mark your calendar and join us if you are interested!!
Here is the link to the session that will be recorded and posted.
