    Dear Colleagues,

The RBMS RDA Editorial Group is pleased to announce the release of version 2022.2.0.0 of Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (RDA Edition) (DCRMR). DCRMR is a revision of Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials that is aligned with the RDA element set. It was initially released on February 2, 2022, and currently contains instructions for cataloging rare books only. The manual will eventually incorporate instructions for other rare materials formats, beginning with graphics.

The new version of DCRMR includes the following additions and changes:

    ·         Addition of a glossary

    ·         Two elements renamed and definitions updated (Manifestation described by and On carrier unit with)

    ·         Addition of general rules for all elements that previously lacked them

    ·         Changes to formatting and font for examples within the text for improved visual clarity

    ·         Introduction of a formal changelog versioning system

For more details on the new release, please see the DCRMR changelog. For more information on the Editorial Group's changelog versioning system, please see the DCRMR wiki.

The chief editors of DCRMR warmly thank all Editorial Group members, as well as the RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee, for their contributions to this improved version of DCRMR. The Editorial Group looks forward to sharing future improvements with the rare materials cataloging community!

    Best,
Liz Adams & Jessica Grzegorski, DCRMR chief editors
