The M2R Project: A Tool-Driven Pipeline for Multilingual MARC21 to LRM/RDA/RDF Conversion
As libraries adopt linked data, scalable tools for converting legacy MARC21 records into high-quality RDF are essential. This presentation describes the ongoing MARC21 Bibliographic to LRM/RDA/RDF Mapping and Conversion (M2R) Project focused on delivering real-world, open, practical linked data tools for libraries interested in adopting Official RDA. Phase I of M2R (2021-2025) produced an open access online conversion tool, mapping documentation, and open source XSL transformation code for single-expression manifestations. Converted data from multiple institutions worldwide has been loaded into a GraphDB test triplestore to support querying, experimentation, and feedback.
The proposed session briefly outlines the Phase I mapping and demonstrates the conversion tool and triplestore. Primary focus is given to the Phase II expansion of M2R's work to process multiple-expression manifestations, more sophisticated approaches to entity deduplication, and support for transforming non-English records, beginning with a Spanish-language conversion.

BF Vibe: Semi-automated BIBFRAME Creation through Natural Language Chat
BIBFRAME's semantic web architecture enables rich, interconnected bibliographic description. However, realizing this potential requires practitioners to develop new expertise in linked data. This presentation introduces BF Vibe, a plugin that supports BIBFRAME creation and use through natural language explanations grounded in the BIBFRAME ontology and authoritative Library of Congress examples.
Drawing on social signaling theory, BF Vibe generates computationally expensive but user-friendly guidance that is costly to produce yet cheap to interpret, signals that establish honest communication and reduce cognitive load. The plugin translates BIBFRAME's semantic relationships into conversational explanations, helping practitioners create and validate records while supporting their understanding of the standard.
Through a chat-based interface, users can create BIBFRAME records with contextual support that bridges technical documentation and practical application. This approach supports both immediate productivity and skill development, offering a model for knowledge scaffolding in semantic metadata initiatives.
