    Hello everyone,

Here are the notes from our June meeting, thank you!

    • As a middle manager how do you advocate on behalf of department/division to library admin
    • How do you communicate with a new boss and build partnerships with others who can help
    • How can you effectively use benchmark and internal data and share the narrative around the data as well as filling in the gaps
    • It's important to understand the goals of the advocacy as that may affect what info is shared, how the message is shared, with whom, etc.
    • Compensation data is very important when advocating for salary/hiring support
    • What about when the data is not as supportive as you may like-being transparent about what the data means
    • Audience matters in crafting your message
    • Close the loop on your efforts and celebrate successes as well as be transparent about what worked/didn't
    • Internal advocacy is challenging because you may not be able to share everything that's going on or what steps are being taken until the outcome is resolved
    • You can also advocate to phase something in-if your initial idea is aspirational, is there a smaller--scale step that can be done first?
