At the February 7, 2025 CC:DA meeting, the committee approved the creation of a task force to develop a welcome/orientation package for new CC:DA members.

The charge for this Task Force follows. If you are interested in participating, please notify me by the close of business on Friday February 28. You must be a Core member to participate, but you do not need to be a current CC:DA member.

Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks in advance to the volunteers!

    Charge

The Task Force to Develop a Welcome Package for CC:DA Members is charged with creating a handbook or other documentation package to provide background and orientation information for new or potential members of CC:DA. At a minimum, include the following:

    • Brief description of CC:DA, including the size of the committee, how often we have meetings, and when those meetings are normally held.
    • Description of the roles and responsibilities for each CC:DA member category (interns, voting members, representatives/liaisons, Webmaster, Vice Chair/Chair/Past Chair).
    • Explanation of CC:DA communication channels (ALA Connect spaces, ALAIR, and if applicable, the CC:DA blog).
    • The typical time commitment as a member of CC:DA and the "normal" busy times for the committee.
    • Time frame for "typical" responses to RSC proposals and discussion papers.
    • What kind of feedback is expected from members for asynchronous discussions; include guidance for specialized representatives/liaisons and whether or not commenters may consult colleagues who are not on CC:DA.
    • Visualization of how CC:DA is structured & its relationship to NARDAC. Consider creating or providing additional visualizations of NARDAC and the RSC for greater context.
    • Links to relevant documentation for more information (such as the current CC:DA Procedures document (https://hdl.handle.net/11213/22462).

The Task Force should present its preliminary recommendations in time for discussion at the CC:DA meeting during ALA Annual 2025.
