About this Group

👐 Anyone can view all content in the group, but only people who join it can post to it. Anyone can join to participate.


Purpose: Provides a broad framework for information exchange on current research developments, tools, and activities affecting networked information resources and metadata; coordinates and actively participates in the development and review of standards concerning networked resources and metadata in conjunction with the divisions' committees and sections, other units within ALA, and relevant outside agencies; and develops programs and fosters and sponsors education and training opportunities that contribute to and enhance an understanding of networked resources and metadata, their identity, content, technology, access, control, and use; and plans and monitors activities using Core's strategic and tactical plan as a framework.

    This email is an invitation to participate in the DLF Assessment Interest Group???s (DLF AIG) working group on metadata??in 2023. There is more information about the group below, but first, a few words about participating in DLF AIG.


    The only requirement for participation in a DLF AIG working group is a willingness to dig in and devote a small part of your time contributing to the tools, methods, and body of knowledge on digital library assessment. Attendance at the DLF forum is not??a requirement for participation in any of the working groups. Additionally, if your institution is not a DLF member, you can still participate. Anyone with an interest in metadata and willingness to participate is welcome to join the DLF AIG Metadata Working Group.

    We???re still working on setting our goals for 2023, but here are a few things we???re planning:


    • Ongoing maintenance of the group website??and regularizing documentation

    • Continued compilation and description of tools, workflows, and resources for assessment

    • Work towards a metadata benchmarking ???toolkit???

    • Regular blog posts about metadata assessment topics


    How can you participate?????


    • Join the Metadata Working Group Google Group??to get announcements, agendas, and connection details for upcoming meetings

    • Comment on the 2023 Work Plan??to help us set priorities and directions for work in the upcoming year

    • Join us for our 2023 Kickoff Meeting on Thursday, March 9, 2023 ??at 1:15 pm Eastern / 12:15 pm Central / 11:15 am Mountain / 10:15 am Pacific.
